Hantis Becomes the Hunter in ProMX

WBR Yamaha racer, Koby Hantis, will enter the final weekend of racing in the MX3 division of the ProMX Championship as the hunter, just three points behind the championship leader and ready to lay it on the line next weekend.
Hantis led the WBR Yamaha charge at round seven with a second place finish, with Kayd Kingsford in third, Seth Burchell in fourth and Kobe Drew in sixth in another strong performance for the team.

Conditions were perfect at the picturesque MX Farm track and the action in the MX3 class was as intense as ever. Hantis finished with 4-2 results on the day to take second place but his lead in the championship has been handed over to Jake Cannon. But three points means the final round at QMP becomes a winner take all shootout on the day and Hantis is up for the fight.

“I struggled a bit in that first moto today and just couldn’t get onto the back of the front three, but it was much better in moto two and I was on Jake the whole race. I spent the whole race looking for a way past, but I never quite got close enough to make it happen.

“It’s three points now, so its still wide open. My focus is just to ride my best and put myself in the best positions and give it everything I can on the day. I’m looking forward to it,” Hantis states.

Kayd Kingsford returned to the podium with a third-place finish on the day with 2-6 results. Kingsford rocketed from the start in moto one and then put up a great fight against Cannon but didn’t quite get the jump he wanted in race two and needed to make his way forward to land on the podium.

The podium result moves him to fourth in the championship, thirteen points behind his team mate, Kobe Drew in third.

“Today was pretty good and its always nice to end the day on the podium. Moto one was good, and I was really close to getting Jake at the end, but my start in moto two wasn’t great and had to make up time on a track that is pretty hard to pass.

Seth Burchell missed the podium by one point but continues his good form at the end of the season. Burchell made the podium at round six and was oh so close at MX Farm on the back of his 5-3 results.

He remained sixth in the championship after missing the opening round of the year due to injury.

It was a tough day for Kobe Drew who just couldn’t get any track position in the opening laps. His poor starts left him well down the field on the opening laps and on the hard to pass MX Farm circuit, Drew could do no better than 6-7 on the day.

The team are now focused on QMP this weekend where the MX3 Championship is on the line.
